Defenseman checks pick setter

Correct Call: Unnecessary roughness. 1 min. Possible 2-3 minutes if check was to the head or neck area. The on ball defenseman looks at the pick setter and then decides to cross check them.
For this to not be a penalty: The on ball defenseman needs to keep his eyes on the ball and not on the pick. If the on ball defenseman does look at the pick setter, no violent contact should be made. Contact alone does not make this a penalty.
Game Level:This should be called at all levels.

Shooter runs into defenseman after the shot

Correct Call: Unnecessary Roughness. 1 min. While the shooting players speed carries him into the defender, the defender makes a clear attempt to body check the shooter, even after the ball has been out of his stick for a couple seconds.
For this to not be a penalty: The body check would need to come sooner, or as the shooter runs into the defenseman, make more of an effort to not extend his hands and just stand there, or step aside.
Game Level:This should be called at all levels.

Legal pick blow up

Correct Call: Legal. Since the defenseman keeps his eyes on his man, and doesn’t acknowledge the pick, this is legal.
For this to be a penalty: The on ball defenseman would need to look at the pick setter and then blow him up.
Game Level:This could be called a penalty on lower tiered games. But never on higher level games.

Possible Slash on Upper Arm

Correct Call: The first check lands high, the second lands on the glove. The first check could be called a slash. The velocity is right on the line, and the location is in slash territory.
For this to be a definitive penalty: More velocity needed.
For this to be a definitive NO call: Less velocity needed, or have the first check land on the glove or stick.
Game Level:This could be called a penalty on lower tiered games or to tighten up an out of control game.

Slash on loose ball

Correct Call: #1 in white clearly swings his stick with enough velocity and recklessness, but does he make contact to consitute a slash? It looks like he does make lucky contact with the opponent’s stick.
For this to be a penalty: Missing the stick and making contact with the opponents ribs.
Game Level:This could be called a penalty on lower tiered games.
