Correct Call: | No call. The black team’s player falls down, but does not create the trip. What creates the trip is the white team’s player running into the downed player.
For this to be a penalty: | There would need to be a flagrant/purposeful act to get the white player to trip.
Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
No Push even with pressure on back
Correct Call: | No Push. Clean play.
For this to be a penalty: | There should be more aggressive contact made from defensive player or the offensive player needs to loose more of his balance or fall to the ground.
Game Level: | At lower skilled games, this could be called a push. |
Push or More Severe?
Time Serving Penalty for Loose Ball Push
Correct Call: | There is an initial penalty at 0:06. Then at 0:10 there is a loose ball push that since there is already a flag down, should be another flag down.
Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
Push from Behind or Nothing?
No interference on off ball play
Correct Call: | Both players are contacting each other, the white player seems to fall down on his own, or with very little contact. No call.
For this to be a penalty: | There should be more aggressive contact made from the red player.
Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
Illegal Push into Crease
Correct Call: | White player did not have possession when he was pushed in the back. White ball outside the box.
For this not to be a penalty: | Check needed to be on the front or side of the player. Then it would be red ball with the goal keeper.
Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
Glove falls off player with ball
Correct Call: | Immediate whistle even if a scoring play is in progress. Ball starts with red outside the box.
Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
Over and Back – Ball contact behind the center line
Correct Call: | White team makes contact on their defensive side. Red ball.
For this not to be a penalty: | Contact needed to happen when the ball is on white’s offensive side of the mid line.
Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
Running Start – Defenseless Player
Correct Call: | At the high school level this should be a defenseless player. The dark player’s head is down focusing on the ball, and the white player has a long running start when he hits the dark player. 2-3 minutes non-releasable.
For this not to be a penalty: | The white player needs to stop before he gets to the dark player. When contact is made, it needs to not be violent or excessive. If contact is not violent or excessive and the dark player still falls down, after the white player stops before contact, this would not be a penalty.
Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
