| Correct Call: | No Push. Clean play. | |
| For this to be a penalty: | There should be more aggressive contact made from defensive player or the offensive player needs to loose more of his balance or fall to the ground. | |

Illegal Push into Crease
| Correct Call: | White player did not have possession when he was pushed in the back. White ball outside the box. | |
| For this not to be a penalty: | Check needed to be on the front or side of the player. Then it would be red ball with the goal keeper. | |
| Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
Push from behind off a faceoff
| Correct Call: | Loose ball push. Play on. Award ball to blue. 23 in white has contact on the back which causes the blue player to fall. | |
| For this not to be a penalty: | Contact needs to be from the front or side. | |
| Game Level: | This should be called at all levels. |
Ball is loose, push from behind
| Correct Call: | Loose ball push. Play on , once the blue team recovers the ball, blow the whistle and give it back to white. | |
| For this not to be a penalty: | Contact needs to be from the side or front. | |
| Game Level: | This should be called at every level. |
Push from behind causes player out of bounds
| Correct Call: | Push from behind. 30 seconds technical foul. Even though it was a light push, and the offensive player may have over sold it, there is still contact, so a push has to be called. | |
| For this to not be a penalty: | Make contact without pushing, the arm extension makes this an easy call. | |
| Game Level: | This should be called at all levels. |
Push from behind
| Correct Call: | Push from behind. 30 seconds technical foul. | |
| For this to not be a penalty: | No contact should be applied to the back of a player that makes them fall or loose their balance. | |
| Game Level: | This should be called at all levels. |
Contact on passer after the pass
| Correct Call: | Unnecessary Roughness. 1 minute personal foul. While this hit happens from the rear, even if this was from the front or side it would be late and illegal. At the high school level this could also be a defenseless player penalty, where it would be a 2-3 minute non-releasable. | |
| For this to not be a penalty: | Make contact from the front or side and before the passer gets rid of the ball. | |
| Game Level: | On lower level games this should be a defenseless player, 2-3 minute non-releasable. For higher level games, the velocity is right on the border of warranting a defenseless player penalty. |
Push before the goal
| Correct Call: | Push from behind before the goal. Flag should be thrown. Goal is good. Flag wiped out because of the goal. If no goal was scored, the player in the crease kills the play. Dark team gets a 30 second man up. | |
